Bio

Tia Richardson is an award-winning community artist who started Cosmic Butterfly Design in 2003. Her background is in using art as a way to relieve emotional stress from trauma. She has worked with different groups that do different forms of healing over the years. The foundation of her work is community design workshops that offer people a chance to freely express their feelings about their community. These efforts bring people together from all walks of life and backgrounds, showing how despite our differences, we can work together for the common good.

Since 2007 Cosmic Butterfly Design has completed over 70 murals in collaboration with non-profits, K-12 and post-secondary schools, businesses and local government in Milwaukee and nationally. Her two largest community healing murals 'Sherman Park Rising' and 'Rockford Taking Flight' are documented in two short films.
