This was an early African doll. I found some pieces of african fabric in my mother's sewing bag - I was in 8th grade - and put together what little outfit I could with them.

 

No yarn, so what could I do? Cut locs from out of the top of the head itself. Eyes - white out and a black pen. Jewelry was limited to the beads I could take from unwanted necklaces.

 

I tried to evolve the dolls from this point to develop their individual styles and characteristics. Refining them without trying to lose the look I like so much,
